How does document scanning services work?

Here are the steps of our general process for document scanning:

Blueprints, plan sets, and maps are barcoded for inventory control
Plan sets are prepared for scanning (unbound, unfolded)
Plan sets are scanned (images captured to digital format)
Scanned images are quality checked for clarity & completeness

Plan sets, blueprints and maps are reassembled (rebound and/or folded) for return to customer
Or original documents are prepared for destruction
Scanned images are processed into final format deliverable (including file naming and folder structuring)
Deliverable images are delivered to customer (via SkySite, SFTP, Thumb Drive, or CD/DVD)

The prices vary from $ 1.00 - 2.50 per sheet.

We use high-quality wide scanners for scanning. We scan at 200-600 dpi to get the highest quality image, in Black & White, Grayscale or Color.

Old blueprints require specialised attention. Many drawings are old and torn. We repair the drawings before they are scanned. Drawings, where the background is blue with white lines, can be reversed with special software we have, or they can be captured in colour to preserve the historical value of the Blueprint.

ARC Document Solutions has 140 Scan Centres in North America, UK, Dubai and India,

ARC can scan the drawings within 1-2 days. Please bring it over to any of our document scan centres and we will get it done for you.

Once the drawings are scanned, we rename the sheet for easy search. However, if you need additional services like indexing, linking and vectorization (Creating an editable CAD file from the hardcopy), ARC staff can help you.

All drawings can be scanned as a PDF or a TIFF file. You can open these images on your PC and Mac without any special software.

No, these images are PDFs. However, if you require ARC to convert them to vector files, we can do so for an additional charge. Vector images can be imported to any CAD program for further changes.

We can scan paper as small as a business card, all the way up to Maps and Drawings 60” wide by any length, even 20 feet long!
